Life goes on

Nothing much is new here. Its day 11 of my IUI-turned-break cycle so waaay to early for an action to be going on,

I am really trying to get back into my healthy routine like I was earlier this year but I am failing, I really don't know why.I think perhaps I need some counseling.

Also, I am trying to find an RE. I think its more than time to move on from the OB. While I have been pleased with the IF specialists at my OB, I would feel better going to an RE sooner. There are many options to choose from in this area, which is making the decision difficult. Do I go with one of the two big clinics? They both have a good reputation (for the most part). One is closer than the other but not by much. Or do I go with one of the smaller groups within the top hospitals? I might get more individualized attention but less flexibility on timing etc. I am also afraid they will not accept me until I lose more weight.

Choices, choices. At least I have them. I know for some of you there is only one choice and it is not always the best one.

I doubt I will be much help. I have *some* insurance coverage for IF (evaluation only really) so I went with the only one that took my insurance in a 25m radius.

Is there a way you could at least talk to the office manager or a nurse to get a feel for the different places?

I'm glad you are taking the next step. It is a little scary to move on, but it seems like you are ready.

GL with your choice. My RE is a big/busy clinic, and I actually really like it. My monitoring appointments were very easy, since they were set up to handle a lot of patients. Maybe you can get some recs from T-TTC or your OB?

Best of luck with this next move.

Good to be positive. It is true that you have choices. I think seeing and RE is going to be good. Good Luck!

I am so glad you are thinking about switching to an RE. Here are a bunch of things I had in mind when I chose my RE:
(a) The clinic has a team of 6 REs... so at any point of my cycle, I will be able to talk to an RE that is on-call... as opposed to the nurse!
(b) I wanted it to be part of a big hospital with a OB clinic and a high-risk OB clinic so I can transition with ease
(c) I want to make sure that the RE is the one that does my u/s and procedures. I have come to realize, after the fact, that I have been very lucky to get such a clinic. Apparently, it is more common to have specific u/s technicians for the job.
And (d) Insurance of course... if your insurance covers IF treatments, then that might make your decision a little easier.

Hope this helps. The one thing I would say is that to make sure you are comfortable with your RE and he/she is both proactive and considerate of your feelings. Ask for an initial consult appt with the RE you are considering to get a feel for this.

Good luck with your choice. If you have any questions just leave a comment at my site and we can chat more.
